This is what is comes down to. Chad becomes a missionary and he gets all the blessings...er..fish. We took a trip to our honey hole -- Pretty Water, just south of Palo Verde, CA. It's about where Ira Reid's place used to be before the River was ruined by the BLM. It is actually the old river channel that is now a huge backwater. Anyway, Chad, myself and Duffy, the wonder dog, went over for Memorial Day. There were no other fishermen there. We had it all to ourselves. Everything was ripe for another Jeff Arnett spanking of Chad Arnett....as is should be. But, missionaries have the touch, I guess. I got spanked. I even had to count the small "anchovie" size bass just to say I caught two fish. I will miss our fishing trips together. It is a big sacrifice for me to give up this boy for two years. It was a lot easier for me to go on my mission than to send him. Nevertheless, if Cliff, Larry, HB and Candy can send theirs off, I can too....I guess.
Now Chad will become a fisher of men I suppose, just like A.J., Anthony, Danny, Casey, Dana, Lacy, Jantzen and Meghan. That's quite a group of fisherman (not too mention their spouses who went.) The older Arnett's thank you for your service to the Lord. We know that Howard and Ethel are proud of your sacrifice as are we. Now, Chad becomes the 9th grandchild to go. Here's to good "fishing", son.
